“Today we make this house into a True Home where seeds of evangelization, discipleship, and stewardship planted in your personal homes, parishes, and schools, will continue to be nurtured and tended to as you discern a call to be priests for this diocese.”
What was vital and essential
to the first disciples is still vital
and essential today; namely a
personal relationship with
Jesus
Christ
Therefore, no matter
what doubts
Be Not Afraid
or fears arise, follow
His call to love.
“I commend you for
your courage
Am I Worthy
of This Call?
to at least honestly
engage the question.”
St. Philip Neri Seminary is the seminary of the Diocese of Wichita, forming men in the propaedeutic and discipleship stages of priestly formation. Founded in 2017 as the St. Joseph House of Formation, St. Philip Neri Seminary prepares seminarians for major seminary through integral human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral formation. Rooted in a home environment characterized by charity, prayer, study, and fraternity, the seminary seeks to cultivate a life modeled after the Holy Family of Nazareth.
“Often our desire to Follow the Lord unreservedly is mixed with doubts, concerns, and fears: Am I worthy of this call? Could I be happy as a priest? What if I get my vocation wrong?”
Human formation is the Indispensable foundation of priestly formation.
As the Church teaches, the priest’s human personality should serve as a bridge, not an obstacle, in leading others to an encounter with Jesus Christ. Through the
work of human formation, seminarians grow in interior freedom, emotional maturity, self-knowledge, and the virtues necessary for a life of authentic service and pastoral charity.

“He knows you better than you know yourself. He has a unique plan and mission for your life that will lead to your happiness and holiness. He invites you to give your life as an instrument for the salvation of souls. Ultimately, He is Love who calls you to a life of love, and “perfect love drives out fear” (1 Jn 4:18). Therefore, no matter what doubts or fears arise, follow His call to love. Be not afraid!”
